Even celebs spend a little less (sometimes)

I love when I open a magazine or go online and see celebrities wearing “cheap” clothes. Sometimes I get so irked when all they wear is designer duds. I know they have the bankroll to wear whatever the heck they want, but I like seeing them in something I could purchase myself.

It makes them seem more personable to me.

This morning I logged online and found this photo of Natalie Portman sporting a Rodarte for Target dress that costs $40 on the red carpet.

Ah, how I love seeing a dress I can afford on a star who is so likable and fun!

That got me to thinking, “what other celebs wear less expensive clothes, even some of the time?”

Most famously was Sharon Stone at the 1996 Oscars. She showed up wearing a GAP turtleneck and Valentino skirt. She’s been regarded as one of the fashion trendsetters of the decade for her unconventional take on fashion.

I quickly found some other celebs who have been wearing clothes, shoes and accessories we “normal” people can afford.

Kate Walsh pairs her GORGEOUS red carpet dress with a $30 Aldo clutch

Sienna Miller really takes the cake though. She’s wearing a $4 tank top from Walmart. She wins BIG points in my book.

Even in magazines celebs are wearing commercially available clothes.
Anyone else love the recent Rodarte for Target line? Teen Vogue does, putting Dakota Fanning in the bow-back leopard gown for their recent issue.

If only more celebs would take notice and realize that they don’t need to spend thousands of dollars on all their clothes, just because they can.

2010 Spring fashion trends I’m excited for

Pantone released their spring 2010 colors a bit ago, but I’ve just gotten around to looking them up.

I’m really digging these colors, but that was probably obvious because they’re very feminine colors. I have clothes in the majority of them, so I’m sure I’ll be able to come up with some awesome outfits. Beyond the Pantone color chart I decided to lookup some of the new trends coming out to see what I liked.

It’s an awesome line with sweet colors, geometric patterns, metallics and awesome shoes! I’m really loving the shapes and the shine in the clothes.

Wow. OK, so how much do I love this collection? Um, a whole lot! The full skirts and lace or sheer details- yum! These dresses are so cute, I want to own them all. The chains on the pants look are awesome. I think the red outfit is my favorite- the sleeves are ah-maz-ing.

The other things I’m dying for in the spring? Clear necklaces like the ones in the Michael Kors collection.

That necklace would match everything I own. Sure, it helps that it’s clear, but it would look chic with jeans, suits or skirts.

I haven’t seen everything from spring 2010, but so far I’m liking what I see. I feel like the days of skin-tight clothes and super short skirts are gone (which don’t look good on me) and the retro feel of full circle skirts and great jackets is back. I can’t wait to see what else will be out there and the other trends I can try to mix into my current wardrobe.

I need to go see what I already own that fits the above trends and colors… :)

Super awesome photo.

It’s not often that I find art or photos I’m really touched by. I’m much more of a word person than a visual person. But, I was tag surfing today and came across this photo. The blog I found it on is still new, it’s a photo blog highlighting one photo everyday for a year. I really hope it continues- I’m loving the first four photos and I can’t wait to see what else is posted.

I think it just hit me because it’s a typewriter, but it’s unused. To me, it’s just haunting because I find typewriters beautiful, and this one is even better because it’s collecting dust. The stories this little machine could tell about what it typed when it was used would amuse me for hours.

But, anyway, head over to Instamatic Gratification to learn more about this photo and take a gander at the others already up. They’re all impressive.
